In the context of the celebration of the National immigrant’st Day, which coincides with 10 August each year, and in the framework of the various annual activities organized by the Ministry for the benefit of Moroccans living abroad, and in order to ensure that public services for the benefit of Moroccans of the world continue to be upgraded, The Ministry organizes the Virtual Summer University for Moroccan youth residing abroad on August 5 and 6, 2020.
During the opening session of the University, Mrs. Nezha El OUAFI, the Minister Delegate in charge of Moroccans residing abroad, confirmed that the cultural offer in favor of young Moroccans residing abroad that aims to integrate cultural transformations would reduce the tension that occurs in dual identity of rising generations and can harmonize the original identity and that of the host countries, without any conflict between cultural references.
The virtual version of the summer university has known the participation of a number of Moroccan youth from different countries of residence (France, Spain, Italy, Belgium, Germany, United Kingdom, United States; Netherlands, China, Tunisia, Algeria) and those aged between 18 and 25 years old. For participants, the female proportion represents about 75 per cent, compared with 25 per cent for male participants. The young Moroccans residing abroad will benefit from intellectual seminars, developed by a selection of high-level diaspora intellectuals, and participants, as well as from a dialogue on the various questions relating to the concept of belonging to emerging generations of Moroccans abroad under current circumstances. In the end of this virtual summer university, an artistic program will be held.
