In accordance with the high solicitude granted by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist him, to Moroccans residing abroad, aiming to improve their situation and defend their legitimate rights and interests, as well as to accompany the social, cultural and demographic challenges that Moroccan expatriates are facing, especially the new generations, in view of the issues of implementing the Family Code and bilateral agreements provisions, the Ministry delegated to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans residing abroad, in charge of Moroccans residing abroad, organizes an in-house and virtual day study, under the theme : “Legal protection of Moroccan women residing abroad in the light of the Family Code and international conventions”, in presence of experts, judges, specialists and Moroccan lawyers practicing in Morocco and abroad, on Wednesday, October 14, 2020, in Rabat.
This meeting will be held on the occasion of the National Women’s Day, which takes place on October 10 of each year, and which constitutes a national event able to identify the most important achievements in favor of Moroccan women abroad and to assess the various challenges to the implementation of national legal provisions and judicial cooperation conventions in civil matters related to the legitimate rights of Moroccan women residing abroad.
This study day will be devoted to academic debates on a series of issues related to the implementation of bilateral agreements on judicial cooperation, such as “the difficulty of recognition by host countries of Moroccan courts decisions”, “the difficulty of enforcing judgments of Moroccan courts in host countries” and; “the difficulty of proceeding to the exequatur of judgments handed down by Moroccan courts in countries of residence”.
This meeting will also be an opportunity to examine a series of proposals to overcome these issues and launch concrete action plans to meet the aspirations of Moroccans residing abroad, especially women, and to consolidate their ties with Morocco by strengthening the civil legal arsenal that responds to the various mutations they are experiencing.
